Snowline Hospice is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to meeting the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those who are nearing the end of life's journey. Our goal is to enhance the living, comfort the dying, and support the grieving with compassion and dignity. We have 5 popular Snowline Thrift Stores and a Recycling Center which support our mission in a big way!  Snowline has hundreds of volunteers that help throughout the organization in various roles.


Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development & Volunteer Services, this hands-on position provides support to Snowline's Retail, Clinical and Administrative volunteer programs in all counties where Snowline serves. You will perform activities related to attracting, recruiting, orienting, training and coordinating volunteer assignments. You will  assist in developing, implementing and maintaining volunteer recognition and retention activities including education meetings. You will also ensure applicable screening, filing, and tracking is done and maintained according to policy and regulations.


  • High school diploma or GED required. AA Degree or above preferred
  • Two years' experience with volunteer coordination, community organizing, event planning, or recruiting/training required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications, Publisher and Social Media
  • Flexibility to occasionally adjust schedule to work evenings or weekends to meet training and recruitment needs

 Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the supervision and management of volunteers for all clinical, administrative and retail volunteer activities
  • Organize, coordinate and manage the recruitment of volunteers utilizing a variety of marketing tools
  • Manage volunteer applications, records and statistics according to organization standards
  • Assign, organize, coordinate, and schedule all categories of volunteers and monitor interactions  
  • Organize and conduct volunteer training classes or one-on-one hands-on training as needed 
  • Create and distribute monthly volunteer newsletter and other necessary communications
  • Work with social, civic, and local organizations to develop partnerships and utilize volunteers
  • Implement recognition program and coordinates appreciation events

 This position is primarily located in our Administrative headquarters in Diamond Springs, however, our ideal candidate will be comfortable being mobile and visiting our thrift store and Sacramento office locations frequently.
